We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Nara Hotel. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We had a twin room, which was very large (by Japanese hotel standards) and the beds were big with good pillows. Also a top sheet (really like this over the no top sheet option which seems to be common). Our room was a little tired but that is reflected in the reasonable price and didn’t matter in the slightest. The (free) segregated sauna/spa was a real bonus. I didn’t think we’d use it but turned out to be great and we really enjoyed it. Excellent way to give the Onsen/spa experience a go. All the team we dealt with at the hotel were very polite and helpful. We walked to several of the major sites (took about 35mins). Excellent Yakatori spot (DeeFuu) is a 5 min walk away. This hotel is a very good option if you are staying in Nara.

The property was so close to everything in Nara that you need to visit. When first arriving the staff greeted us and was very kind, we had no hiccup with check-in or check-out. Our room was spacious, a bit outdated but overall great for function. The hotel has a spa which looked amazing, but due to tattoos we was not able to experienced it. Just a reminder to those the visit Japan, it is very common for hotels with spa/onsen to not let visitors with tattoos partake, do not take it personal. The lobby had an amazing view of the waterfall which you see and admire all day. Parking is available and it is an additional cost as mention and I did see a restaurant onsite but we did not have time to visit.

I really liked this hotel, it’s a bit old and it is not in the center near the park and shopping places, but for me it was actually really pleasant to discover more of the city than the more tourist area. the bath in the basement is really nice, it’s a naturel onsen, they also have a great massage options, the crew is lovely. I stayed two night but I would have stayed 1 week easy. there is also a big bookoff just next to it. and there are a few nice place to eat around, even if you are vegan.

Staff was very courteous, professional and friendly. Provided very clear explanation of the facilities and what was available for us including carpark, breakfast times, onsen usage. Brings back memories of hotel in the 90s that is kept & maintained so well. Wide lobby space, good spread of breakfast and onsen with yukatas, slippers, towels, toiletries etc. Would highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel.

Pretty window view of a grassy area, room felt more spacious than others we have stayed in, breakfast buffet was amazing, great view from the seating area of water. Staff was very helpful, cute gift shop. Not walking distance from the train station but a 1300 yen cab ride. Front desk helped organize a cab to pick us up and take us to the train station, very convenient. Bed was very comfortable.
